XLplus Add-On Manager
XLplus Add-Ons are additional tools for XLplus either for free or for small expense. You can increase XLplus functionality targeted with XLplus Add-Ons.
XLplus Add-Ons are available for various needs. You choose, which functionality you wish to use and install.
Note: Using XLplus Ver. 3.X you can even install your own tools as Add-On. See Using my macros with XLplus for details.
To maintain XLplus Add-Ons or your own extensions use Add-On Manager. Using this, you can install new Add-Ons or uninstall existing ones.
The Add-On Manager can be found within the XLplus menu option Add-Ons.

The following Dialog allows to install new Add-Ons or to uninstall existing Add-Ons:
Tip: Use the lower right corner of the Dialog to change its size.
Install New Add-On
To install new XLplus Add-Ons use Install New Add-On. Afterwards specify the Path to your new Add-On.
Tip: You should ease entering a Path by using Button Browse. By default, the directory XLplus is installed in will be preselected.
On every change of the TextField, the specified directory will be searched for XLplus Add-Ons. All found Add-Ons as well as every other Excel Add-In file of type *.XLA or *.XLAM will be listed.
Listed Information covers:
- Installation status (+/-)
- Add-On Name
- Version
- Description
- Filename
- Path
From the list, choose an Add-On to install. Confirm your choice with OK.
Note: Using
XLplus Ver. 3.X you cannot install
XLplus Add-Ons which were written for older versions of
XLplus. The installation process will abort with a warning. Additionally, you cannot install
XLplus Add-Ons for
XLplus Ver. 3.X in older versions of
XLplus.
Tip: You can identify all suitable
XLplus Add-Ons by their version number. All Add-Ons for
XLplus Ver. 3.X start with a 3, always. All Add-Ons for older versions of
XLplus start with smaller numbers than 3 instead.
Why do different Versions exist?
Where on the one hand it is more work maintaining different code streams, several versions offer certain benefits on the other hand.
The main disadvantage of different versions is keeping them up to date and synchronised. But as said, all code for XLplus Ver. 2.X received its last bug fixes and feature updates. This code stream will not be continued anymore.
Add-Ons for XLplus Ver. 3.X are available in the new file format (*.XLAM) only. This format is much faster than the previously used format of *.XLA. Additionally files are of less size.
Finally, XLplus changed the way Add-Ons are installed. This, on the one hand, allows including your own tools within XLplus but furthermore reduces the size of all Add-Ons, too. Using one version of an Add-On only, requires including installation routines as well as command bar definitions within each single Add-On. This would blow up the Add-On files again.
You get informed about which Add-On to install. Cancel progress in order not to install the Add-On.
In case the Add-On is already installed, you will be asked whether to overwrite it or not.
Cancel progress in order not to replace the Add-On.
Note: In case of an Add-On with costs you have to enter Username and Key in order to successfully install it. Alternatively use option 30 Days Trial Version.
After installation completed, you will be informed about the successfull completion of install.
Hint: Installation of Add-Ons saves XLplus permanently.
Browse For New Add-Ons
Choose this option in order to browse for new XLplus Add-Ons within the Internet
Uninstall existing Add-On
To uninstall an existing XLplus Add-On choose Uninstall existing Add-On. Afterwards, specify the Add-On to uninstall.
Installation or Deinstallation of Add-Ons will save XLplus permanently.
