Register XLplus As Add-In
For a convenient way to work with XLplus you should register it as an Add-In.
MS Excel Add-Ins
MS Excel Add-Ins are files of type Add-In with the ending XLA or XLAM. In difference to usual MS Excel spreadsheets, which generally perform a dedicated task within one file, Add-Ins often offer services for any other opened file. A second kind of Add-In performs a special task only, often changing the MS Excel user interface in order to fit best to this task (Dictator Add-In). An example for the later kind of Add-In could be a Holiday Planer, which, upon load, disables all control buttons of the common MS Excel user interface, just showing its own command bars and buttons.
XLplus is an Add-In, which offers services for any open file, i.e. working with Cell References or giving easy access to your most required set of formats. This kind of functionality should be available whenever MS Excel is loaded. This can be achieved by registering XLplus as Add-In.
You can register an Add-In using the Build-In Functionality of MS Excel (Tools - Add-Ins ...) or by the Wizard coming along with XLplus.
The Wizard will be started automatically from within the setup routine. It can be started manually either from the Program Group you installed XLplus in or from wihin XLplus. Both tools perform the same task.
Register XLplus As Add-In
The Wizard offers a convenient way to perform this task. You simply have to choose option Register As Add-In and the next time you start MS Excel, XLplus will be loaded automatically.
Use option Unregister As Add-In instead, in order to delist XLplus from the list of all Add-Ins.
Manually registering Add-Ins
Note:
Using MS Excel 2007 or higher you will find this option in Excel Options - Add-Ins - Manage Add-Ins.
Using MS Excel 2000 - 2003 you will find this option in Tools - Add-Ins - Manage Add-Ins.
Note: You can manually add XLplus Ver. 3.X to the list of Add-Ins using MS Excel built-in functionality. When registering XLplus Ver. 3.X manually you have to register the file LoadXLplus.xlam. You cannot register the XLplus Ver. 3.X Add-In file (XLplus_3.xlam) directly, since it is protected. Since the Wizard performs this task conveniently, you should use it, instead.
The functionality of XLplus can be extended by XLplus Add-Ons, targeted.
