Goto Last / Select until Last

By default, MS Excel only selects the last cell of the used range. Therefore, in case the content of cells at the end of this range has been deleted, MS Excel will still select a range containing these cells.

To make MS Excel, to only identify the last cell filled with data, these cells have to be removed, means their content and their style has to be deleted. Hereafter, the workbook has to be saved.

Alternatively, use this tool to find the last filled cell.

This tool allows to jump to the last filled cell as well as to select until the last filled cell. The macro will determine the last filled column and the last filled row. It then will goto or select until the cell which is the vertex of these cell references.

Goto Last:

This selects the last filled cell on the active worksheet.

Select until Last:

This selects all cells from the active cell on until the last filled cell on the active worksheet.

Keyboard:

After XLplus has been started, both functions are also available when pressing a key combination.

Use: [Ctrl]+END to Go to the Last Filled Cell.

Use: [SHIFT]+[Ctrl]+END to Select until the Last Filled Cell.

The functionality, previously assigned to this key combinations, is still available.

Use: [END],[POS1] to go to the Last Used Cell.

Use: [SHIFT]+[END],[POS1] to Select until the Last Used Cell.

Thanks:

The idea and original code was found in an article of Hans W. Herber in a German computer magazine (c´t, Nr. 18, 31.8.98 - 13.9.98). Thanks.
